The Philippines has a pretty tropical climate, with only two seasons: Wet and Dry. The rainy season lasts from June to October and the season without rain goes from November to May. If you like sun and beaches then Philippines is the best country for you. But if you like cold weather then you should plan your trip to the Philippines for the dry season, from November to May. Temperatures are lower in these months but with no rain you will get a chance to enjoy all the water activities you can possibly imagine.

Getting to Boracay, one of the Philippines’ most famous islands, involves a combination of air and sea travel. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to get to Boracay:

Step 1: Arrive in the Philippines Before you can get to Boracay, you’ll need to arrive in the Philippines. Most international travelers land at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila, the capital city. Alternatively, some international flights may arrive at Mactan-Cebu International Airport in Cebu.

Step 2: Book a Domestic Flight to Caticlan or Kalibo Once you’re in the Philippines, you’ll need to take a domestic flight to either Caticlan (Boracay Airport) or Kalibo International Airport. These airports serve as the gateways to Boracay:

  • Caticlan (Godofredo P. Ramos Airport): This airport is the closest to Boracay and the most convenient option. Several airlines operate flights from Manila to Caticlan. The flight duration is approximately 1 hour.

  • Kalibo International Airport: While Kalibo is farther from Boracay, it’s another option for travelers. Airlines also offer flights from Manila to Kalibo. The flight duration is approximately 1.5 hours. From Kalibo, you’ll need to take a land transfer to Caticlan (around 1.5 to 2 hours) before proceeding to Boracay by boat.

Step 3: Land Transfer to Caticlan Jetty Port (if arriving in Kalibo) If you arrive in Kalibo, you’ll need to take a land transfer to Caticlan Jetty Port. Many tour operators and shuttle services provide transportation between Kalibo and Caticlan. The journey takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.

Step 4: Boat Transfer to Boracay From Caticlan Jetty Port, you’ll need to take a boat transfer to Boracay Island. The boat ride is short, lasting about 10-15 minutes. Ensure you have your necessary tickets and fees ready for the boat transfer.

Step 5: Arrival in Boracay Upon arriving in Boracay, you’ll typically land at Cagban Port or Tambisaan Port, depending on your boat operator. From there, you can take a tricycle or arrange for transportation to your specific resort or accommodation on the island.

Please note that it’s essential to check the most up-to-date travel requirements and procedures, as they may change due to various factors, including government regulations and the ongoing COVID-19 situation. Additionally, some airlines and boat operators may have specific guidelines and requirements for travelers to Boracay, so be sure to verify these details before your trip.

Make sure you have the Boracay travel requirements.

As of this writing, there are only three documents you need to present:

  • Valid ID. For Filipinos, any government ID is accepted. For foreigners, a valid passport.
  • Confirmed hotel booking or voucher from a DOT-authorized accommodation establishment.
  • Tourist Arrival Form. You can find this form at Caticlan Jetty Port and accomplish this on the spot. If you’re a group, one person may submit this on behalf of the whole party.
