About the Brand
Founded in 1967, the Hyundai began producing badge-engineered cars, mostly from Ford and Mitsubishi. After some time, they were able to design their own cars, and usually with the help of ItalDesign, but their engine supply still comes from other brands. Slowly, they were able to develop their own engines as well. By mid-2000s, Hyundai hired Thomas Burkle to be the head of design. Thomas Burkle is a previous designer for BMW.
In recent years, the success of Hyundai led them to be the third-largest automotive manufacturer, just behind Volkswagen and Toyota. They have also created a new luxury marque, the Genesis, which is primarily sold in South Korea but is also sold in some selected countries.
