Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Shepard Fairey: A work of art on your wrist
Hublot and artist Shepard Fairey have just announced the result of their second collaboration: a titanium watch made like a sculpture.
The second collaboration between the Swiss watchmaker de Luxe and the American artist Shepard Fairey, the Classic Fusion Chronograph Shepard Fairey was created and thought of as a true work of art in titanium, making it as impressive as visually as it is robust.
Symbolizing the natural cycles of life and unity between different cultures, this is the third creation from its "Hublot Loves Art" program, after the Hublot Classic Fusion "Takashi Murakami All Black" and the Classic Fusion Orlinski. Designed more as works of art than as watches, these creations are an illustration of the different artistic visions and cultures that can be found in the four corners of the world.
Here, it is the artist Shepard Fairey, painter, graphic designer, deejay, illustrator, street artist and initiator of the clothing line Obey Clothing and skater who tries this difficult exercise of miniaturization. For this reason, the artist has chosen to give life to a work symbolizing a mandala, an ornamental symbol that simultaneously draws its origins in several cultures throughout the planet and which represents harmony, the cycle of life and elements as well as the preciousness of time in the mind. A pattern here engraved and brushed in titanium, material of which are composed the bezel and box with a diameter of 45mm.
A work that continues on the dial, also finely cut to let glimpse the automatic chronograph movement, a caliber HUB1155 offering a power reserve of 42 hours. In the center of the needles is Fairey's signature: the "Star Gear" logo. Mounted on a lined black rubber strap, the black stainless steel deploying buckle is also brushed. All this is protected by a case and bezel sapphire glass in black brushed titanium and engraved, engraved decoration signed "Shepard Fairey"
"Coming from Street Art, a form of expression bearing the claim in itself, Shepard Fairey poses as a true agitator of the art world; his works encourage reflection. An inspiring approach in which Hublot is also part of its "Hublot Loves Art" program. For his second watch-work of art, he wanted to fully immerse himself in the technical aspects allowed by the know-how of our House, resulting in a piece with a very strong visual impact, whose ornaments convey an emotional and intellectual message that everyone can interpret freely. Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot.
"The impressive mastery of Hublot's watchmakers and engineers in their field has allowed me to go further in expressing my inspiration and pushing the limits imposed by technology and materials. In fact, the final result of this second shows that I sign for Hublot impresses me myself. I wanted to incorporate the art of the mandala that suggests the connection between the inner self and the outside world, which is a great concept to remember when looking at your watch while contemplating time. Shepard Fairey, Artist.
