About the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante
The convertible season is upon us and we thought you'd dream a little by giving you details and pictures of the new Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante, unveiled recently.
The second Aston Martin model to bear the name Volante since the British company adopted its new business plan ("Second Century Plan"), it has been designed internally to preserve the style, dynamics and spectacular performance of the coupe.
The aerodynamics has been revised to take into account the soft roof of the DBS Superleggera Volante. Surprisingly, this convertible generates up to 177 kilos of ground support, just three kilos less than the coupe.
The roof takes 14 seconds to open and 16 seconds to close, either by pressing a button inside or using the remote control at a distance of up to two meters. Its advanced design includes eight layers of sound-absorbing materials to enhance occupant comfort when the roof is closed. By the way, Aston Martin offers it in a choice of eight colors, including Bordeaux Red, Atlantic Blue, and Titan Gray.
The unique power and sound of the V12
"Nothing in the world compares to the roar of an Aston Martin V12 and I believe that the DBS Superleggera Volante provides one of the best sensory experiences ever," says Aston Martin Lagonda Group President and Chief Executive Officer, Andy Palmer.
Equipped with a quad exhaust system, the DBS Superleggera Volante has been engineered and calibrated to deliver sound quality that only a super sports car from Aston Martin can offer, the company insists. That being said, for those who do not want to disturb their neighbors on Sunday morning, a silent start function is included.
The V12 in question is a 5.2-liter twin-turbo engine that develops no less than 715 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque via a new eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. It allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 340 km/h. GT, Sport and Sport Plus modes are available.
In the United States, the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante will sell for $ 329,100.
